We need to do what we can to help the world better understand both children and adults with autism. I’m terrified of what the future might hold for my children. I have witnessed how cruel and unforgiving the world can be to people who are perceived as different. It is an ugly reality but one I’m working to help change.

i cant believe it’s been a month already since i’ve been done with school.
it’s funny and almost embarrassing to look back on how much i hated ucsd at first. but how much i ended up loving it there. and how much i miss it now.
i cant say i feel smarter, but i definitely feel more aware.
ive learned to accept opposing views and learned how different people can be.
i cant say my political science major has affected me in a great way but my international studies major was so worth it. i remember my college application essay, wanting to “walk under the rainbow of flags at the United Nations.” Now, i just want to work at the bottom and realized that change must come within. & that instead of ordering people what to do, we have to be supportive and empower people to want to help themselves. As I’ve learned from Amartya Sen and his capabilities approach, “we must not only take into account individuals possess, but also their ability, their freedom to use their property to choose their own lifestyle.” Human well-being not only constitutes money but also the freedom of choice, individual heterogeneity and the multi-dimensional nature of welfare.
i cant say i came out wanting to achieve great dreams and aspirations. but i just want to make a difference, no matter how cheesy and cliche as that sounds. but cliches exist for a reason right?
UCSD, thanks for the memories. you shall be missed!
